Impact Tasty Team
The IMPACT Tasty Team has been tackling diet related health issues head-on, empowering local people with the skills and knowledge they need to prepare healthy meals that are both quick and on a budget.
Our practical ‘Get Cooking’ courses give people with limited experience the opportunity to gain knowledge about nutrition and learn basic cooking skills, giving them the confidence in the kitchen so they can prepare simple, healthy meal for themselves and their families. We are currently running the following courses:
* ‘Get Cooking’ courses for parents.
* ‘After School’ cookery clubs at primary schools for pupils and parents together
* One to one cooking for older gentlemen
* ‘Get Cooking’ courses for specific groups such as youth clubs, young parents, adults with learning difficulties and carers.
As well as cooking courses the Tasty Team also runs ‘Tasting sessions’ at primary schools on one of the following healthy themes: lunchboxes, snacks, breakfast, drinks and salads. So children have the opportunity to learn about and try different types of healthy foods.
Fork to Fork Gardening
Our gardening scheme reconnects people with where their food comes from and helps people to grow their own fruit and vegetables. We assist people from the local community to establish and maintain fruit and vegetable patches in the community gardens which we have set up behind Saltworkz cafe. All the seeds and equipment they need are provided and we encourage everyone in the community to come and get involved.
The Tasty Team has an adult and a children’s smoothie bike that can both be hired for your private party or local event. Make tasty, healthy smoothies and get some exercise at the same time!
Volunteering for the IMPACT Tasty Team
IMPACT’s Tasty Team would not run without the help of our wonderful volunteers. If you would like to become one of our cooking volunteers then please get in touch! Volunteers can commit as much time as they like, full training is provided for each role and we pay all travelling and out of pocket expenses.
If you are interested in volunteering, hiring the smoothie bikes or would like further information on our extended community projects please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. You can call Lucinda or Elisabeth on 01444 457080 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for further details.
